Pangani Lutheran Children's Centre (PLCC) sponsors training for youth, who are responsible for the care of their younger siblings after the death of their parents. In most cases, these young girls and boys have finished only primary school. Many small children have to beg in the streets to earn their livelihood. If a sister of an orphaned family is admitted to PLCC, we assist the young head of the family. We counsel them and offer vocational training in order to help them to be self-sufficient. We continue to give opportunities to interested and talented PLCC girls to further their knowledge with PAWENA. Through the weaving project, we generate income to expand our activities of getting young girls off the streets and into school by making different products including clergy stoles, table runners, placemats, bags, and kikoi.
