About us
A journey of serving street girls
PLCC is a rescue centre for girls who are living on the streets in Nairobi and have no access to education. It is an outreach ministry of the Kenya Evangelical Lutheran Church with the aim to change their lives into a brighter future by offering a Christian and caring education.
PLCC Vision: All girls develop their God-given talents to be able to live according to God’s plan and assume their responsibility to act as honest and appreciative people in the community.
PLCC Mission: PLCC creates an environment in which all registered girls receive what they need to achieve a fulfilled life through rehabilitation, transformation of their lives, and reunion with their parents/guardians.
- 1993 - The KELC women general assembly held in Malini Lutheran guesthouse agreed upon establishing a center for street children under the women coordinator Ruth Abrahamson.
- 1993 - Pangani House (Eastleigh, Chai Road, Nairobi) is dedicated to the PLCC by KELC
- 1993 - PLCC Committee first meeting
- 1994 - Started giving children bread and milk
- 1995 - Starting informal education in Mathare church
- 1995 - German volunteers stay for three months at PLCC, program of NMZ Church Hamburg
- 1996 - First girls admitted to public schools. PLCC covers school fees plus all cost regarding to schooling
- 1997 - February, 27; PLCC registration (Kenya register of societies)
- 1997 - PLCC office at KELC Headoffice .
- 1997 - 16 girls move into Pangani house.
- 1998 - PLCC newsletter ,‘A friend in need is a friend in deed.‘
- 1998 - 50 girls are registered.
- 2000 - Purchase of the plot in Ole Kasasi,Ongata Rongai

1993
- The KELC women general assembly held in Pangani House, Nairobi, agreed upon establishing a center for street children under the women coordinator Ruth Abrahamson.
- Pangani House (Eastleigh, Chai Road, Nairobi) is dedicated to the PLCC by KELC.

Goals
- Self-supporting and responsible citizens of Kenya
- Integration into a regular school career
- Educational qualifications at the highest possible level
- Physical and spiritual health
- Strengthened trust in God
- Creation of awareness among the national and international public of the problems of the street urchins
Objectives
- To rehabilitate the less fortunate girls by supporting them through formal and informal education
- To provide support through a feeding program
- To care for the health of the registered children through arrangements with hospitals, health centres, and counselling centres when needed
- To instil discipline and tenderness within the children
- To reintegrate the street children back to their family unit and to school
- To support the recognized special-needs cases by providing them with food, medical, clothing, and hygiene materials
