Weaving - training - education

Pangani Weaving Nairobi

Pangani Lutheran Children's Centre (PLCC) sponsors training for youth, who are responsible for the care of their younger siblings after the death of their parents. In most cases these young girls and boys have finished only primary school. Many small children have to beg in the streets to earn their livelihood. If a sister of an orphaned family is admitted to PLCC, we assist the young head of the family. We counsel them and offer vocational training in order to help them to be self-sufficient. We continue to give opportunities to interested and talented PLCC girls to further their knowledge with PAWENA.

Through weaving project we generate income to expand our activities of getting young girls off the streets and into school by making different products including clergy stoles, table runners, placemats, bags and kikoi.

Products

Stoles

Clergy stoles for pastors in liturgical colors and different motives.

Tablesets

Variety of styles and colors to fit on all types of tables.

Kikoi

A nice multipurpose cloth; you may wear it in the typical Kenyan style or use it according to your wish and creativity.

Bags

Nicely woven bags in a clever style and wonderful colors.

Our prices
The competition on the market is high, also in hand-woven products. But more and more people are ready to pay fair prices for fair working conditions. We cannot and we don't want to compete with cheap products out of exploiting work.
