Keeping a child away from the street

Let us not become weary in doing good

Giving and receiving during COVIP-19 pandemic

I am grateful for the time at PLCC with the children in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Being a college student and not fully engaged with school work, I opted to give out my morning hours to spend with the Centre children who are in primary education level and due to the Pandemic are not attending school.

Daily activities

The programme of study is guided by a timetable that begins at 9:00 am and ends at 12:00. The revision is guided by the use of different textbooks; Practice Mathematics for pre-primary 1, Sound and read and Primary Maths for the pre-primary 2. After teaching a topic I give homework to do during my free time. On Monday to Thursday the students have lessons on the Education Channel where they learn language, Creative, Environmental and Mathematical activities.

Lessons learnt

Through time management I am able to interact with the children and to bring about hope, joy and growth. In the Bible we learn on how we should minister with our knowledge and gifts and to also let others to minister to us as well. Galatians 6:9 “Let us not become weary in doing well, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

This has enabled me to commit myself to my studies and at the same time assist in revision for the preschool class.

Tabitha (one of the house mothers) and I, have hopeful signs that we can continue doing this, and improve reading comprehension skills and mathematics through practice and determination while waiting and praying for the COVID-19 Pandemic to go away!

The children seem to enjoy our time together which I also do.

May the Lord bless us!
